One is that, these institutions that we’ve inherited. We should not be surprised when they fail. Complete Transcription of Pacer Section from "The Internet's Own Boy" by Brian Knappenberger (Transcription by Lisa Rein, Aaron Swartz Day.) Brewster Kahle - Founder, Internet Archive: "How can you bring public access to the public domain? It may sound obvious that you would have public access to the public domain, but in fact, it's not true. So, the public domain should be free to all, but it's often locked up. Our Vampire Charger can also be thought of as a "Universal Charger." The idea is that you have two piece of wire - in the video they are black and red, but they don't have to be marked clearly, as one of the points of this device is that you might not know which is which, so, to be clear the polarities don't matter . (At the very end of the video, after the phone turns on, Matteo switches the red and black inputs, to demonstrate this point.) As Matteo explains in the video, the idea...

This is a letter that Lisa Rein and John Perry Barlow wrote to Chelsea Manning, on October 28, 2015. October 28, 2015 Hi Chelsea, I'm sitting here talking to John Perry Barlow, co-founder of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Freedom of the Press Foundation, and he wonders why requiring you to identify as a man is not a profound abridgment of your civil rights. Perhaps it could be a relatively straight forward process to have such possibly cruel and unusual punishment addressed and...

This is the first letter that Lisa Rein wrote to Chelsea Manning, on October 7, 2015. Full text of letter: October 7, 2015 Hi Chelsea, I hope this letter finds you well. That sounds a little ridiculous to say, under the circumstances. You've endured so much and come out such a shining symbol of all that is good in the world. I really mean that, and I think of you often. I sent you a card a few weeks ago, but I didn't want to complicate the sentiment of the card with the subject I'd like to talk...

He was actually working on a lot of other important projects at the time, and really had no idea that he would become targeted by the U.S. Government as a criminal for downloading journal articles over MIT's open network.
